Dental Crowns
Dental crowns have existed for 2500 years, since the first crowns were placed in ancient Italy, prior to the time of the Roman Empire. Rest assured, dentistry has come a long way since then!
Crowns are porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or precious metal restorations that snugly fit over the portion of a tooth that extends above the gum line. You may need a crown to repair extensive tooth decay or damage. Expect the procedure to require two dental visits.
